After formation in 2001, a change in drummer, and a movement away from their humble beginnings as a school-talent-show band, The RipOffs found their musical feet in 2004.
A string of local gigs led on to support slots with established Scottish bands such as Poor Old Ben and Ghijk, as well as garnering a small, but devoted following.

Interest from radio picked up, with Niall-Iain of BBC Radio showcasing the band on his show, and Jim Gellatly of Beat 106 (now XFM Scotland) picking the band as his "Beatbreakers" in February. Having played a whole range of venues from the well known 13th Note, Barfly, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and SECC to tiny pubs, music cafes and church halls, the band have become one who those in the know are keeping their eye on.

Live Music Direct Review - March 2006

"RIPOFFS were next on stage with a set of grungy yet bouncy songs. Lots of enthusiasm here and yet another young band to watch out for in the months ahead. I liked their attitude and obvious love of what they do, it was infectious. Nice one guys" - PodBoy Records - Jan 2005

"While a name like The RipOffs may suggest a lack of original ideas, this trio of young upstarts from Kirkintilloch
actually have a heck of a lot to offer. As Jim says, "When I'm trawling through piles of demos each week, looking for bands with that special spark, it can sometimes be a thankless task. It's made worthwhile when I come across a band like The RipOffs.

They might not be the finished article, but if the demo is anything to go by, they've bags of potential. It may be raw, but there are some brilliant tunes bursting out."
The Beatscene - Beat 106fm - Feb 2005
